The Meadows Fisheryis a two acre stream-fed fishery which opened a few years ago and now offers the opportunity for anglers to enjoy some first rate, and perhaps unique, fishing for rainbows within sight of the sea. While this is a relatively new fishery it has a good variety of insect life with chironomids, olives and sedges all present. The lake is already easy on the eye but a good number of trees and shrubs have been planted around the banks and as these grow it will add to the setting as well as providing cover and habitat for fish and insects. Most of the water in the fishery is around four to five feet in depth but there is also a deep section on the western side giving the fish refuge in adverse weather conditions. There are a number of well-positioned seats around the lake to help you relax and enjoy the fresh, clean sea air. The fishing hut provides excellent facilities for cooking, tea, coffee and refreshments and there are a number of picnic tables and a toilet. Families are welcome and for those who want to take up or try their hand at the sport there are rods for hire and tuition available Catch and release fishing is practised after the quota has been reached. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and wear the lifejackets provided. Angling is from 9am to sunset and booking is advisable as numbers are limited.
